Scallop and Oyster Aquaculture Experience
Learn the ropes of hotate and kaki seeding and harvesting, or help us bring in a fresh catch! With guidance from our master aquaculturists, you will be able to seed oysters or scallops with your own hands.
Farm Experience
On abandoned land, we are making farms for agricultural tourism. Get your hands dirty with us as a farmer-for-a-day, and help bring in crucial income for our Minami Sanriku food producers.
Pathfinder Experience
Help to rebuild and maintain the forest paths which were destroyed in the disaster. An important part of this work is putting in signs and benches to make the paths more attractive to both tourists and local people. (Help us make signs in your language!)
Seafood and Storytelling Experience
Hear gripping and inspiring tales of disaster and rebirth from an official kataribe storyteller as you eat a scrumptious seafood lunch at Keimeimaru restaurant. A mother figure to many in the community, host Sakiko Miura lost her original restaurant on 3/11, but continues to represent the indomitable spirit of Minami Sanriku.
Forestry Experience
The forests surrounding Minami Sanriku play a pivotal role in maintaining the balance of mountain, farmland, and ocean ecosystems. Help us to conserve these forests.
